Celtic crosses - some 21 feet tall
The monks were in charge for much of today as we travelled to sites known for their crosses, their towers and the ruins of monasteries and abbeys. The huge crosses were used as tools for spreading Christianity - with carved biblical lessons. Celtic crosses continue to be used in modern times. Bill and I spend a surprising amount of time in these graveyards!
