History of Boyne Valley - part 2

We were drenched but having fun so continued on to the site of the Battle of the Boyne where William of Orange defeated James II, a defeat significant to the modern history of Ireland. Again, an educated guide as well as videos and an interesting laser presentation gave us a new understanding of the battle and its significance.
An acknowledgment of the battle was part of Ireland's peace-making process in the 1990's - recognizing but moving past the consequences.
The lesson I learned is: Never pay attention to men with big hair who want you to go to war for them.
William III in red, James II in blue. 60,000 men marched two weeks to the Valley of the Boyne.

Sample of food for soldiers. William's march included 300 bake ovens to make bread.
